EPA Releases Attica Test Results
The Environmental Protection Agency released its test results from samples taken from the Hillcrest Industries Site in Attica. The results show that a burning pile is emitting several chemicals.
The results also show that levels of benzene in two off-site samples were above the health-based screening values. The EPA says that suggests that benzene is possibly migrating off-site into the community.
The EPA is working with Hillcrest to help break up the pile and extinguish the fire. They want residents to know that they may see an increase in smoke during that time, but will be taking precautions to minimize the amount of pollution leaving the site.
