Local Soldier to Be Memorialized at Arlington
A former Penfield man killed in Afghanistan will be memorialized at Arlington National Cemetery.
The father of 29-year-old Sergeant First Class Daniel Metcalfe tells us the family is still planning a Rochester memorial to be followed by a service at Arlington. After that, his wife plans on transporting the body to their home in Italy for burial.
Metcalfe was on foot patrol Saturday when they came under small arms fire.
Sergeant Metcalfe served in the army for 11 years and was part of the 173rd Airborne, stationed out of Italy.
He attended Penfield High School and is survived by his wife and three children.
