CASTILE, N.Y. — We're learning more about the woman who the Wyoming County Sheriff's department says is still unaccounted for.
The search is over for the evening but residents continue to show up to the scene of the fire. Many of them tell me they're concerned for Lorraine Qutermous.
A family member told me earlier in the evening that Qutermous lives in the second floor apartment in this building. That family member says nobody has heard from her since 8:30 Monday night.
Qutermous also owns the restaurant Lorraine's Place below the apartment.
"It used to be called Marion and I’s. I was Irene who was a friend of my mother’s. I used to go there and we’d eat. Then we’d go upstairs to that apartment and there was an organ there. It was Irene’s daughter’s and that’s where I learned how to play organ," said Brian Gross.
"She’s run the restaurant for many years here. Her daughter went to school with my daughter," said Donna Sanford.
She tried very hard, ran a nice business. She’s been here almost as long as we have," said Bruce Carney of Silver Springs.
“It’s a close-knit community. Everybody knows everybody. Everybody in this town are related in one way," said Stephen Tarbell, town supervisor.
The town supervisor and village mayor said us earlier that their thoughts and prayers are with Lorraine’s family.
Many family members were here throughout the day waiting for updates while the search was underway. She was not found.
Crews will return here at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
