Organized by the Partnership for a Walkable America, Walk to School Day is a one-day event aimed at building awareness for the need for walkable communities.

Thousands of schools in over 40 countries participate each year.

This year Rochester students were encouraged to walk or ride bikes to school.

The Rochester police department provides some busy intersections with crossing guards to make the walk to school safer.
