The US Marine Band plays in about 500 events each year.
The band made the pit stop Sunday as part of their cross-country fall tour.
The group's primary mission is to provide music for the President of the U.S. and the Marine Corps Commandant.
"First of all I think this represents people who are in the service," says Mayor Richards. "It represents people who have served our country, the kind of music they play is the music that those of us who have been in the service remember. So I think it's not just a matter of having the band here, it's a matter of honoring those who have served the country, and this is the way to do it."
The concert was free and open to the public.
The Marine Band is America's oldest continuously active professional musical organization.
