Contract talks continue between the University of Rochester and members of the United Healthcare Workers Union.
1199 SEIU is holding an informational meeting Tuesday with updates for members on the latest negotiations.
Tracey Harrison, the Administrative Organizer for 1199 SEIU, said, "The major issue at this point is healthcare, health insurance."
"Our members make less than $28,000 and now they're being asked, somewhat forced to go into a plan that's going to force them to pay on average, if they have a family plan, $3,000 a year, that brings them down close to the federal poverty level," said Harrison.
The University of Rochester said that the school is committed to providing workers a compensation package that's highly competitive, fair and equitable.
