Empowerment Weekend Comes to a Close
Sunday was the conclusion of the first ever Women and Girls Empowerment Weekend.
The new conference is designed to encourage and inspire women and girls to declare their worth with speakers, workshops and theatrical productions.
All emphasized self-esteem personal development and healthy relationships.
"I think that everyday we are bombarded by different things that are negative stereotypes, negative images of who girls are and I just think that sometimes we need to be reminded of who girls ar," said Melany Silas, Empowerment Committee Member. We are really made for greatness, we are beautiful, we are magnificent. We are everything we supposed to be and I think sometimes we just need a little push to be propelled in that area so that's what we really wanted to do."
The conference also featured programs and resources in the Rochester community that would be beneficial to young woman as they mature into adulthood.
