Two Penfield town workers were transported to the hospital Wednesday morning after a construction accident on Baird Road.
Town Supervisor Anthony LaFountain said the workers were in a hole installing new storm drainage when a large catch basin fell from above. At the time of the accident, the catch basis was being lowered in to the hole for installation.
LaFountain said the two workers were bumped into when the basin fell into the hole.
"This is normally a routine job, construction job that we undertake on a daily basis. Our crews do this type of work each and every day and we had a situation where again, between the catch basin and the chain, something loosened up and ended up bumping our two guys," LaFountain said.
LaFountain said each worker was back-boarded as a precaution, but that their injuries didn't appear to be serious.
