According to Paperwork, Suspect in Brockport Death Tells Deputy 'I Just Snapped'
The young man charged in the brutal killing of a College at Brockport student in September allegedly told a jail deputy, "I killed my girlfriend," and "I just snapped."

Court paperwork detailing the crime alleges 21-year-old Clayton Whittemore beat 18-year-old Alexandra Kogut to death inside her Brockport dorm room with his fists and a curling iron.

The court papers detail a conversation between Whittemore and a jail deputy, in which Whittemore allegedly admits to killing Kogut. According to the paperwork, the deputy, who was assigned to watch over Whittemore, asked him if there was anything he wanted to talk about to clear his mind.

Whittemore allegedly told the deputy that he and Kogut had attended a party the night of her death and at the party, Kogut was rude to him. After leaving the party, Whittemore received a ticket for having an open container of alcohol on campus grounds. Court papers say Whittemore said the incident made him mad.

Once back at the dorm room, he told the deputy that the two began to argue over "stupid stuff." The deputy said Whittemore told him Kogut began to push him and wouldn't stop, so he started punching her.

"I kept hitting her over and over with my fists."
Whittemore then told the deputy:
"Her breathing sounded bad, like there was blood or something blocking her breathing. "I didn't want the girl I loved to suffer, so I started beating her with a curling iron until the noise stopped."
The deputy said Whittemore ended the conversation saying:
I wasn't even drunk, I just snapped."
Whittemore is charged with second degree murder.
