Bill Clinton to Rally Democrats in WNY

Friday will be a big day for Democrats in Western New York and supporters of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter. Former President Bill Clinton's campaign appearance was moved to the Main Street Armory in Rochester to handle the big crowd that's anticipated.

A big cleanup, for a big event.

The Main Street Armory is getting a spruce job, fit for a President.

"To see Clinton come here it's a big deal, I think."

The Armory hosts a diverse array of events.

"We do anything from dog shows to cat shows to any different type of concerts," said Scott Donaldson, owner.

There's volleyball, and weddings.

"Just about anything you can think of, we do."

Donaldson got a call Wednesday asking if the Armory could host a campaign rally for Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, with a special guest, former president Bill Clinton.

No problem.

"It's not that bad. It really isn't. It's just last minute, some phone calls. It'll be set up on time."

And cleaned up.

Getting rid of the remnants of Tuesday's Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson show. Diverse crowds, indeed.

"Just a little bit. It's pretty cool the different people this place attracts," said Ronnie Penders, with a laugh.

"It's actually a lot easier than a Marilyn Manson, trust me," Donaldson said.

Maybe the biggest difference between this event and others held here at the Armory is security. The Secret Service was here Thursday morning. They're working with local police.

"They come in early to do a sweep of everything, secure all the lots, secure around... figure out which way's in, which way's out."

Donaldson says he had to juggle some schedules to pull off Mr. Clinton's visit, but it's hard to say no to a president.

"Well, very very tough."

So the Armory's getting a fresh coat of paint and some elbow grease. A routine setup, really for a guest that's anything but.

"We're really looking forward to it. This is fun."
