Annual Rochester Short Track Meet
More than 100 people from across the country laced up their skates and took off at full speed this weekend for annual Rochester Short Track Meet.

The competition was hosted by the Rochester Speed Skating Team at the Ice Centre at MCC's campus.
Skaters from eight different states and Canada took part in the event.
Skaters' ages ranged between four years and the master's 50 years or older group.
"It is an individual sport so you're never relying on a team mate. It's only you out there trying to beat your own times so it really gives you the motivation to keep at it," said Melody Burdekin, Meet Director.
About 60 of the skaters are from Rochester. The meet determined if they'll qualify for an upcoming competition in Ohio.
