Woman Accused of Faking Breast Cancer Turns Down Plea Agreement
The Ontario County woman accused of lying about having breast cancer has turned down a plea agreement.
Mike Tantillo, the Ontario County District Attorney, said the case against Melissa Jones will now move forward to trial.
Jones is accused of faking the illness in order to collect donation money. She denies the charge and claims she believed she did in fact have breast cancer.
In court earlier this month, Jones said she went through two rounds of chemotherapy, causing her hair to fall out.
Jones is charged with grand larceny and possession of a forged instrument.
