One day after grand plans for a new football stadium for the Bills were presented in Buffalo, developers and representatives of The Strong were talking about the project in Rochester.

The Rochester tie-in would be called the North American Museum of Sports and Culture. It would be part of a $1.4 billion complex built by the Buffalo waterfront. It would be highlighted by a 72,000 seat football stadium.

The Strong’s role would be to set up the museum, with a theme celebrating all things sports.

“The first thing that I thought of for the facility that we were envisioning would be a component that would provide a day-in and day-out sports and play experience, and I could think of no other org or center for creativity and vision than The Strong museum,” said George Hasiotis, developer.

The Strong was approached by developers back in the spring to gauge interest in the project. The museum wouldn’t actually make a financial commitment.

Developers are still in the process of lining up financing.
