The Bureau of Labor says the unemployment rate for veterans is a full two percent higher than it is for the general public.
That's why a hundred local, regional and national employers took part in a job fair Wednesday.
The Veterans Outreach Center held the annual event at the Diplomat Party house in Gates. The idea was to match up employers with vets looking for work.
Organizers also brought in local colleges and vocational schools to give the veterans the tools they need for a career.
"Deciding to go back to school as a 45-year-old is pretty daunting, but, it's one of those things that is very encouraging and hopefully it will help open up some doors," said Robert Podoaski, Navy Veteran.
This is the 12th year the Veterans Outreach Center has hosted the job fair.
