"I'm rooting for the Giants, no question about it," said Johnny Antonelli.
Antonelli, a one-time New York Giant, remembers what it's like to play in the World Series.
"My first pitch in my second game of the World Series in 1954 was a home run," he said. "Where do you hide when you throw a home run on the first pitch. You don't hide anywhere."
Antonelli played for the Giants when they swept the Cleveland Indians. Antonelli is still a baseball fan and will be watching this year's series closely.
"If everybody is up it's going to be a good series I think."
And he's not alone.
"We are looking forward to a good game," said Steve Borkhuis.
Borkhuis and other local baseball fans gathered to watch the game at the Red Wings 4th annual World Series Party.
"I think everybody in here except for my nephew are glad that the Yankees aren't in it," Borkhuis said.
The Red Wings have two former players in the series, fans are looking forward to seeing.
"We have Jose Mijares playing for the Giants, and Delmon Young playing for the Tigers so we do have representatives. Now, we would love it to be the Twins in the World Series; then we would have a lot of representatives, but we're happy to have a couple of our former Red Wings out there," said Gary Larder, Red Wings Chairman of the Board.
It's the first time the Giants and the Tigers have met in the World Series. Baseball fans say they are excited to see the matchup.
