The local chapter of the Red Cross is preparing for the worst with Hurricane Sandy.
The chapter is making sure there are cots, pillows, food and staffing to support those who may be in need of shelter and food.
The Red Cross focuses on preparedness due to the uncertainty of what Sandy may bring to the area.
A member of the Greater Rochester Chapter of the Red Cross stressed the importance donations are to the foundation.
"This is gonna cost dollars," said Marjorie Beldue, Assistant Director in Disaster Services. "We're hoping that people will look at this and realize and think about donations at this time because it's gonna cost a lot of money to make sure everybody's needs are met."
