The storm had lots of people out along the Lake Ontario shoreline early Tuesday morning to get a glimpse of what Hurricane Sandy did. Strong wind gusts continued out in Charlotte most of the day.

Waves pounded the Lake Ontario shoreline even causing white caps on the Genesee River.
Dozens of people visited the Charlotte Pier to take a look at the beach, the water and the waves. Some spent hours at the lake, videotaping before, during and after the storm.

"I have never seen, actually the river; I mean the lake yes, but I have never seen the river like this ever," said Sandy Winter from Greece.

"You could just hear the waves," said Dave Andrews from Greece. "It's awesome, you are a mile away but it sounds like the waves are right next door."

Waves smashed along and over the river wall, but none of the businesses there reported significant damage.
