A new store in downtown Rochester will benefit those in need.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society Store is not-for-profit and opened a few weeks ago. The store is housed in the halls of St. Michael's Church on Evergreen Street. The store features a variety of items from fine crystal to furniture.
All of the items are donated and then sold. All proceeds go to the poor.
"There's a lot of people we visit, that are clients are sleeping on the floor, so we provide beds and pots and pans and things that they really need we sell a lot of the crystal and non-basic items and then we raise money to buy the basic items," said Jim St. George, St. Vincent de Paul Society.
The store is open Friday and Saturday of this week and then on Fridays from 9 to 3:30 or by appointment. To make an appointment, call (585) 338-2330.
