People will be able to access information about the city of Rochester easily with the new "What's Nearby?" app and mobile website for smartphones.
Mayor Tom Richards unveiled the new mobile website at a news conference Thursday.
The mobile version of the website will make it easy and convenient for people to access information and services involving Rochester.
The platform includes a built in app that uses the phone's GPS to navigate the user to facilities and events in relation to their location.
"It's very important for us that our citizens be able to engage our city as easily and as well as they can, and that we make it possible for them to engage us in ways that they're comfortable with, in the way they use. This, of course, is a good example of that," said Richards, (D).
The mobile platform automatically displays on smartphones when users type in the city's web address.
