Designs were presented for the open space and public realm portion of the Midtown Redevelopment Project
The presentation featured design plans for the new streets, sidewalks, and streetscape features within the site.
The meeting also brought up the plan to incorporate an art installation which will be visible from Main Street and Clinton Street as a focal point at the heart of the project.
Kim Michaels, a landscape architect, described the priority of the public in making up this space.
"The priority here is people occupying the space, and although cars can drive through it, that changing material, and the sense that this is all one open space for people makes cars slow down," said Michaels, with Trowbridge Wolf Michaels Landscape Architects.
Once the Midtown Project is completed, the site will accommodate about one million square feet of office, residential, hotel and retail space.
