Seven stairwells at Highland Hospital each have a story to tell, all thanks to two local artists who painted them.
It's part of the "Art Takes Flight for Your Health" wellness project. Once completed, the murals will depict a story centered on the circle of life and will feature elements from around the hospital and the Rochester area.
The hospital hopes it will encourage employees to use the stairs more often.
"One of the things that we're going to do is each floor is going to have a way to record that you've taken the stairs and we're going to recognize employees who take the stairs and do some recognition when people are trying to take those healthy methods of traveling around the hospital, so it's kind of a unique twist to it," said Kathy Gallucci, Chief Human Resources Officer.
The project was funded by the Highland Foundation and is expected to be completed in December.
