One lane of Route 490 near Winton Road was closed for several hours after the back of a dump truck crashed into a pedestrian bridge Friday morning.
State Police said Jerrell Heath, 40, was on 490 East just after eleven o'clock Friday morning, when the bed of his 1982 Mack dump truck started to rise and smashed into the overpass.
No one was injured and no other cars were involved in the crash.
"I heard a loud explosion and took a look over my left. There was a puff of smoke and the back of the truck was hanging off the bridge and I could see the cab continuing forward," said Darrell Scott, who was driving the opposite direction on the expressway. "Luckily I was not behind it. I came back to make sure nobody ran into it from behind."
Engineers and Department of Transportation crews were at the scene inspecting the bridge to make sure that it was still structurally safe. Tow trucks crews then hooked onto the truck and pulled it from under the bridge.
State Police are still investigating and charges are pending.
