Eight Charged in Alleged Geneseo Hazing Accept Plea Deal
Eight women charged in a hazing incident involving the girls volleyball team from SUNY Geneseo accepted a plea bargain Tuesday afternoon.
Eleven students in all were arrested in connection with the Labor Day weekend incident that left one underage girl hospitalized.
The women admitted that underage students were blindfolded, handcuffed, and ordered to drink as part of an initiation into the team.
As part of the deal, the eight women will do two weekends of community service through the sheriff's department. They must also set up at least two speaking engagements with area schools to talk to students about what they did. This is on the condition that they stay out of trouble for a year.
Similar offers will be made to the remaining three suspects.
