Friday is National Adoption Day
Friday is National Adoption Day. In Monroe County, family court is hosting a ceremony starting at 10 a.m. It's free and open to the public.
The goal of National Adoption Day is to bring together courts and communities in all 50 states, along with the Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, to finalize adoptions.
The day also raises awareness about children currently in foster care that are waiting to be adopted.
In total, more than 40,000 children have been adopted on this day over the past 12 years.
