Woman Killed in One-Vehicle Crash in Elba

A Genesee County woman is dead after deputies say her vehicle went off road Friday evening and hit a tree in Elba.
Sheriff's deputies say 69-year-old Vincentia Smith of Elba was heading west on North Byron road when she drifted off of the road.
Smith was transported to UMMC where she later died.
Deputies are still investigating the cause of the crash.
"We will examine the vehicle to determine if there was any malfunction in the steering or the wheels. If they come back fine and everything comes back fine, yeah, this could just be one that we never know the reason why it happened," said Investigator Timothy Weis with the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.
Weis says there's no indication that Smith slowed down before the collision.
