Senator Chuck Schumer made a stop in Spencerport on Tuesday, calling on railroad company CSX to remove several old bridges.
Railroad bridges over Union Street, Washington Street, and Manitou Road are no longer in use, and they are now crumbling.
Schumer said tractor trailers also routinely become stuck under those bridges each year.
"A whole bunch of commercial trucks have been lodged under this bridge. Once they get stuck, they cause hours of traffic jams, stifling the flow of deliveries, hurting our business district because shoppers aren't able to come," said Sen. Schumer, (D).
CSX had originally promised to remove the bridges starting in October, but never followed through on that promise.
