Hunter facing charges after shooting himself

STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- A hunter who accidentally shot himself is facing charges after it was revealed that he is a convicted felon. Robert Connis, 30, of Savona is charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Steuben County Sheriff's deputies say he accidentally shot himself in the foot with a shotgun while hunting Saturday morning in Bath. Deputies discovered Connis is a convicted felon and it's illegal for him to have a rifle or shotgun.

He is scheduled to appear in Bath Town Court December 12th.
