WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Two lucky turkeys will strut away from the dinner table this Thanksgiving. Every year, the president pardons a turkey, sparing it from ending up as part of the holiday feast.

This year the only cobbler people will be eating will come with a side of ice cream. This year, President Obama pardoned two birds - Cobbler and Gobbler. The 19-week-old turkeys come from a farm in Virginia.

For the first time, the public got to vote on Facebook on which bird should be this year's National Thanksgiving Turkey.

The tradition of pardoning a turkey started with President John F. Kennedy in 1963.
