Thousands of people started their Thanksgiving day in Webster Thursday morning with the 41st Annual Turkey trot.

The race in Webster Park offered two distances, a 4.4 mile and a 2.5 mile. This year the event had a record turnout, reaching over 5,000 participants.

Organizers say the race has grown 40 percent a year for the past seven years.

"Thanksgiving is the biggest day of the year to run. There's huge races all across the U.S. And the big thing about it is Thanksgiving's all about coming back, seeing your family, seeing your friends, and what better way to do it than start with a little run," said Boots, President of YellowJacket.

This event is the second largest running event in the Rochester region after the Corporate Challenge.
