After deploying to Sandy stricken areas, some local firefighters found a new way to help those affected by the hurricane.

Greece Fire agencies started "Fill the Truck," a Hurricane Sandy effort, bringing supplies to Long Island. The Greece Fire Agencies are partnering with Greece Volunteer Ambulance, Greece Central School District and the Northwest YMCA for this event.

Residents are asked to donate books, toys, canned goods and more. All donated items will be delivered to Freeport, Long Island.

Volunteer firefighter Al Camp says every little donation is a big help.

Camp said, "The items we're collecting, new toys, books, pet food, and canned goods won't give them the final solution they need, but it will give them some relief over the holidays.

Donations are being collected at ten different sites around Greece. Visit North Greece Fire Department for more information.
