Lake Ontario State Parkway Closed Wednesday
The western two miles of the Lake Ontario State Parkway will close for the winter.
It effects the stretch between Lakeside Beach State Park and Route 98 in the town of Carlton in Orleans County.
The state DOT says it's not heavily traveled and closing it will save an estimated $70,000 in plowing and salting over the winter.
Drivers will be directed to Route 18 as a detour.
