The murder trial of a Brighton man accused of killing his former roommate began Wednesday.

Wyant is charged with second degree murder in the February shooting death of his former roommate CJ Schoen in Wyant's Brighton home.

Schoen's friend, Matthew Mitchell, testified that Schoen snorted bath salts the day of the shooting prior to going to the home he once shared with Wyant. Mitchell said Schoen was angry when he entered the home after learning that a tail light had been smashed on his car.

Mitchell said he heard the sound of breaking glass come from the home. Another man then came from the house frantically.

When Mitchell went inside, he says he saw Schoen injured. He and the other man, identified as Steven, removed Schoen from the home.

However, Brighton police officer Renee Stickles, the first on the scene, said Wyant told her he dragged Schoen from the home in an attempt to get him help.

"I think there's going to be a lot more discrepancy about that as you continue to hear from other witnesses. I think that's going to continue to create more questions in your mind as you hear more testimony," said James Nobles, defense attorney.

"You call it a discrepancy, I don't know. You were in the courtroom and I guess I really can't comment more on that," said Michael Harrigan, prosecutor.

Stickles will be back on the stand when testimony resumes Thursday morning.
