County Executive Maggie Brooks addressed concerns of a new fee for snow removal on county roads in next year's proposed budget.

The fee, proposed by Brooks, would be assessed $15 per $100,000 assessed value on homeowners. It's expected to raise $5.3 million in revenue.

Though the budget will not increase property tax rates, this new fee has been met by some objection.

"We don't control the majority of the dollars that we spend in Monroe County and until we change that, we're going to have to look for creative ways, we're going to have to find ways to continue to pay for increases in service without increasing taxes," Brooks said.

County Legislators will vote on the proposed budget next month.
