The fifth-annual lighting of the Menorah took place Monday night in the village of Pittsford.

Despite the rain, many people enjoyed hot chocolate and live music. They watched the lighting of a nine-foot menorah at the Four Corners.

The celebration then moved to the library where there was another Menorah; this one made out of 1,400 canned goods.

Rabbi Yitzi Hein, co-director of Chabad of Pittsford, says the food will be donated in the spirit of the holidays.

"Chanukah is a beautiful message about everybody lighting their individual candle.
It's time for families, and the spiritual message is that everybody can at least do one
act of goodness and kindness, the proverbial lighting of candle, and that's something
we can live with for the whole year," said Hein.

The canned goods will be donated to the Pittsford and Brighton Food Pantries.
