Rochester Barbers Host "Cut the Violence"

By: YNN Staff

Rochester Barbers Host "Cut the Violence"
Professional barbers in the Rochester community volunteered their time for the "Christmas Cut the Violence" event.

Families enjoyed free hair cuts, balloon craft, face paintings, and a toy giveaway courtesy of the Pirate Toy Foundation.

There was also HIV testing and blood pressure screening to promote awareness.

Willie Lightfoot, Event Organizer, said, "They can come, they can get their kid's hair cut for free, they can get information that's helpful for them, and then they can also get a toy. It's Christmas time! So we're trying to spread the Christmas spirit too and let families know that there are people out there that care. And we hope this little bit of love will help curve some violence and some ill will in our community."

The "Cut the Violence" event happens in February, June and December.
