The 53rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion said Staff Sergeant Nicholas Reid died at a hospital in Germany. The Army said Reid was hurt in an IED explosion in southern Afghanistan December 9th. The Army said his family was with him when he died.

The Brockport Central School District said Reid graduated from the High School in 2004. SUNY Brockport said the Reid was 26-years-old and was a student there but did not graduate.
