Coats, scarves and hats and were given away Saturday by members of Rochester's Police Activities League.

The group teamed up with WDKX for the "Share the Warmth" coat giveaway at the Salem United Church of Christ in downtown Rochester.

The program aims to help out the less fortunate children of the community for the winter season.

"Right now we have it open to the public for people to come down," said WDKX personality Freddy Colon. "This is something we have been promoting for the entire week just to help out families, to come through, and to keep kids warm is the most important thing."

Over 500 coats were donated by sponsors for the event.
