The Sikh community of Rochester held a memorial service on Sunday for those affected by the Connecticut shooting.
The group sang at the service and prayed for the victims and their families as well as the injured for a speedy recovery.
This event is one of many mass shootings that have occurred and one member took a moment to reflect and to express his hope that the violence stops.
"It's just a few months (from) when the shootings happened in Colorado and even in Wisconsin in the Sikh Temple, and now we have this event," said representative Harpret Kohli. "It's very painful. I hope nothing like this happens
again and we don't lose even a single life like this."
The United Sikhs urge people to be on the lookout for suspicious behavior to prevent such tragedies from happening in our communities, and suggest small children not be exposed to images of this even on the news.
