Local Affiliate Issues Apology After NBC Airs TV Show Resembling Events in Webster

By: YNN Staff

The Vice President and General Manager of WHEC-TV, Channel 10, issued an apology following the airing of an episode of the TV show Chicago Fire Wednesday evening.

The episode showed firefighters and ambulance personnel being shot at as they responded to a call. It ran just three days after the tragic shooting in Webster shooting.

Derek Dalton's statement posted on Channel 10's website said, in part:

"We understand and regret the timing of this episode. By no means did we, or NBC, intend any disrespect to the families or our community affected by the recent events in Webster.

All of us in the WHEC-TV family have a personal connection to our community and our firefighters. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and we will continue to cover this story with compassion."
