After some unseasonably warm winter weather delayed the opening of an ice skating rink in Fairport, families are happy the rink finally opened to skaters Friday.
The outdoor Fairport ice rink usually opens the second week of December, but warm temperatures and a broken compressor delayed the opening.
Ten-year-old Teagan Wehner and her dad have eagerly been waiting to get on the ice. They say it's one of the best rinks in the area.
"My favorite season is winter, so I like the snow," said Teagan.
"The ice is awesome. I mean you can't beat this ice. I used to build hockey rinks in my backyard and never got ice this good," said Rob Wehner, of Perinton.
The rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
