Joe Morelle Jr. To Be Nominated to Vacant County Legislature Seat
Monroe County Democratic Chairman Joe Morelle tells YNN he will nominate his son to fill a County Legislature seat, but he clarified that it's part of his role as the county chair to do so.
The 17th District seat was left vacant by Ted O'Brien's election to the State Senate.
Joe Morelle Sr. says it was the Irondequoit Democratic Committee who recommended his son, Joe Morelle Junior.
The county chair will pass along his son's recommendation to the Monroe County Legislature president.
Ted O'Brien, meanwhile, tells YNN his oath of office as State Senator is filed with the state. The first day of session for the Senate is next Tuesday. O'Brien says he'll have a ceremonial swearing in before Governor Cuomo's State of the State address next Wednesday.
