Petition to Honor Firefighters With Medal of Freedom Reaches eSignature Goal
The petition to award the four firefighters involved in the Christmas eve ambush in Webster has reached its goal.

The petition on the White House's website calls for the Medal of Freedom to be awarded to the two firefighters who were killed, Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka, and to honor injured firefighters Joe Hofstetter and Ted Scardino.

Friday afternoon, the petition reached 25,000 e-signatures, the amount needed to be
be considered by the Obama administration.

The Medal of Freedom is the highest awarded civilian medal.

Meanwhile, both Hofstetter and Scardino remain in satisfactory condition at Strong Memorial Hospital.

It is still not known when the men will be discharged, but Strong Hospital tells us the two are making excellent progress.
