Twenty-six traveling quilts made with the patterns and fabric used in 1812 are on display at the Webster Museum.

The Seaway Trail Association challenged women to make quilts inspired by those made during the War of 1812.

Each was created to look as traditional as possible with their own personal touch.

"On each quilt, you'll have a description of what the woman thought of when she was designing her quilt," said Webster Museum Board Member Jan Naujokas. "And many are personal stories. Some may have had a relative in the War of 1812 and they likened it to what happened to that relative."

Story boards can be found around the museum that tell local tales of the War of 1812. They also describe how the hand-made uniforms were sewn.
