Rochester School Board to Hold Meeting Thursday
The Rochester School Board hopes parents and community members will take part in a conversation Thursday evening about the proposed Facilities Master Plan.

The board wants to hear concerns and questions in an informal setting.

The plan includes renovations to a dozen elementary schools, six middle and high schools, closing schools 16, 22, 25, 36 and 37 and merging some school programs at four other schools.

Any changes are not expected to begin for another two years or more.

The conversation starts at 6:30 p.m. at the district's Central Office Building.

Before that conversation begins, the board will also hold a public hearing on a proposed merger of two existing charter schools.

The idea is to form one non-profit corporation called the True North Rochester Preparatory Charter School. It would combine True North's educational corporation with its West Educational Campus Corporation.

If approved, the charter school would serve more than 500 students. The board hopes the merger can take place in July.
