Philip Seymour Hoffman is up for best supporting actor for his role in "The Master".

The other nominees for the category are Tommy Lee Jones, Robert De Niro, Alan Arkin and Christoph Waltz.

Steven Spielberg's film "Lincoln" leads the Academy Awards with 12 nominations. The nominations were announced by Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone.

MacFarlane will host the Oscars February 24, at the Dolby Theatre, formerly the Kodak Theatre, in LA.
