What's the future look like for the RPO? A full meeting at the Rochester Public Library Thursday proved to be enlightening.

The meeting was set in December when the RPO announced they would be terminating conductor Arild Remmereit's contract.

After both positive and negative reaction, Remmereit was asked to speak at the meeting to express his hope for the future of the RPO, and in return received his advice.

"Emotions are running high. Passionate views are being expressed. May this passion be channeled towards the obvious common goal… a great future for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra,” said Remmereit.

“Certainly the RPO is committed to continuing innovative programming and to finding a new music director who is going to take us in new directions. What I hope for the future, and the RPO hopes for the future, is that people allow us to help move forward this way,” said Mark Berry, vice president of communications for the RPO.

Another meeting is scheduled for January 23rd to discuss changes to the RPO board of directors.
