Monroe Community College hosted a free Veterans Benefit Fair Saturday.

The fair was organized by the Monroe County Veterans Service Agency to help inform vets about the services and discounts available to them.

Organizers say most veterans are not aware of all the services they are eligible for. They say it's difficult for vets because eligibility differs based on factors such as length and era of service.

Laura Stradley, Director of Monroe County Veterans Service Agency, said, "It's actually quite a challenge for most veterans to find out what all their benefits are because there's not a super connection between the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration, so when people are separating from service they don't really know what all is available to them."

There were more than 45 different veteran services providers on hand at the R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center at MCC's Brighton campus.
