Georgia Man Sentenced for Defrauding Local Investors
A Georgia man was sentenced Wednesday after being convicted of defrauding two Western New York investors.

Police say 64-year-old Tony Leon Smith of Snellville, Georgia claimed to be a millionaire and investor promising high yield returns.

Smith is accused of wire fraud and money laundering after attorneys say he convinced someone to wire him $5 million to an offshore bank, where he then transferred the money back to himself and others into bank accounts in Rochester.

Smith was sentenced to 96 months in prison and ordered to repay more than $5 million.
