One person is dead and two more injured after an early morning car crash in Orleans County Sunday.

The Orleans County Sheriff's Department said two people were in a Chevrolet HHR along Ridge Road in the Town of Gaines delivering newspapers around 3 a.m. That's when a second car, a Dodge Neon, driving down Ridge Road crossed the center line, hitting that car head on.

The driver of the HHR was identified by police as Edward Schneider, 21. Schneider was pulled out of the wreck by Albion firefighters and flown to Strong by Mercy flight. His passenger, Christopher Swan, 21, was partially ejected and was able to removed himself from the car. Swan was transported to Strong by ambulance.

Schneider is currently listed in satisfactory condition at Strong. Swan's condition is unknown.

The driver of the Neon, Cameron Hess, 22, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The sheriff's office is looking into what caused Hess to veer into the lane and off the shoulder.
