More than a hundred children honored Dr. Martin Luther King Junior with a celebration at the YMCA's Carlson MetroCenter on Monday morning.
The "Celebrating the Dream" event kicked off with a rally, followed by music, activities, discussions about Dr. King's speech, and a dance party.
Organizers say Martin Luther King Day serves as a great opportunity to bring kids from nearly a dozen different branches together to appreciate each other and the diversity of the group.
"It's so important for us as an organization to bring kids who participate in Y programs together at least once or twice a year, and we purposely do it on Martin Luther King Day 'cause it's a great day to celebrate our differences and our similarities all together," said Laura Fasano, YMCA of Greater Rochester.
This was the fifth year the Y held the event.
